Good morning! Today I’m excited to share booking information on the blog for First Communion Mini Sessions. Newsletter subscribers have already had a crack at the booking calendar, so if you haven’t subscribed yet, be sure to subscribe to the portraiture newsletter, and be among the first to know.

Do you remember your First Communion? I sure do, it was so much colder than expected and we had to process from outside the church. Us girls were so jealous of the boys who got to wear suit jackets, while we froze in our dresses! I can remember the nerves once we got inside. I was seated at the end of a pew, so you can imagine my worry as a 7 year old wondering if I’d remember to stand and go up for Communion!

Most of all though, I remember the anticipation. It was so fun going to downtown boutiques with my mom looking for the perfect dress. At the time it felt like I tried on a million dresses, maybe I tried on three, but it felt like a lot. The perfect one was a simple cotton dress with an embroidered hem. My mom picked out a veil with no frills, but the night before she and my Nana stayed up stitching pearls on it, here and there, just to make it special. It felt like my whole family came out for that day, I just thought “wow, this is a big moment!”

All these memories came rushing back to me when my daughter made her First Communion. I loved reliving those memories, but also seeing it through her eyes. I don’t have many pictures of my First Communion day, I’m sure the old standard, standing outside the church with my mom, dad, and brother is somewhere, but I’m not even sure where! I would have loved to have had pictures to show my daughter in the days that led up to her First Communion, that’s why I decided to hold First Communion mini sessions this year. I have a new in home studio which is white and bright, just perfect for celebrating this most special sacrament.
